Grandma's second day in Hong Kong was a Saturday, so Matt was around. We all went over to Lantau Island to see the Big Buddha. (It is the largest seated outdoor bronze buddha in the world.) This was another long day! I didn't realize how much walking we do in Hong Kong. We climbed all 210 steps up to the Buddha!
We didn't know it but we were there for the start of the celebration of the Buddha's birthday. So, we got little Chinese dessert snacks and some fried noodles. It was quite delicious, but Grandma wasn't too excited about the desserts. They weren't sweet enough! We also happened to see one of Matt's coworkers from the Chinese office. What a small world!
After the buddha, we were tired and sort of wanted to chill out, so we went to see the Korean movie "3-Iron". It was good, I love Korean movies. They seem to be putting out some really interesting and unusual movies. I think they are much better than Hong Kong movies, which are all slapstick and action. Matt likes the Hong Kong movies more. Grandma loved the chocolate popcorn that they serve at the movie theaters here. It is very yummy!
Then we ate a late dinner at Nha Trang Vietnamese Restaurant. It was delicious. Grandma is doing amazingly well at following our schedule...we didn't eat dinner till 9. Somehow that always happens with Matt and I.
